About Us

At Barsell & Longchamps, we help families throughout the East Bay protect what matters most — their loved ones, their homes, and their legacies.

We’re a mother–daughter legal team and a woman-owned, family-run firm, proudly rooted in the community where we grew up. Our firm was originally founded over 40 years ago as Blackstock & Barsell, and while our name has evolved, our mission remains the same: to provide practical, compassionate, and trusted legal guidance for every stage of life.

We focus exclusively on estate planning, trust administration, and probate because we believe these are some of the most important — and most personal — areas of law. Whether you’re creating your first estate plan, navigating the loss of a loved one, or managing a trust, our goal is to make the process clear, comfortable, and tailored to your family’s needs.

We combine deep legal knowledge with real-world understanding and approach every matter with care, integrity, and respect. Our clients often tell us they feel like part of the family — and that’s exactly how we want it to feel.

Rooted in the East Bay

Both Liz Barsell and McKenna Longchamps were raised in the East Bay and have strong ties to the local community. We are proud to serve families in Walnut Creek, Lafayette, Danville, Pleasant Hill, Concord, and throughout Contra Costa and Alameda Counties.

We’re more than just a law firm — we’re neighbors, mothers, daughters, and community members dedicated to helping local families plan for the future with confidence and peace of mind.

Liz A. Barsell, Esq.

Partner

With more than 30 years of experience in estate planning, trust administration, and probate, Liz has built her career on helping families protect their legacies with care and clarity.

Liz began her practice under the guidance of Robert L. Blackstock, with whom she founded the original firm, Blackstock & Barsell. Over the decades, she has earned a reputation for her deep knowledge of California estate planning and her calm, compassionate approach to guiding clients through life’s most personal legal matters.

Her clients value her honesty, her ability to simplify complex issues, and her genuine dedication to their families’ long-term well-being.

When she’s not working with clients, Liz enjoys spending time with family, tending her garden, and exploring local trails.
